The Yorktown Medallion

North Kingstown, RI 02852

The project is a “vignette” space slated for Spring 2026 at the end of Ranger Rd in Yorktown. It will have a planting of a tree or a native bush alongside a bench in a crescent-like design on one side of the mandala, providing a container to inspire a story or poem. This space is envisioned to invite residents to step into a dedicated place that encourages peaceful respite and reflection by being in Nature.

Yorktown Park Sensory Nature Trail

North Kingstown, RI 02852

The Eco Land Art Project is planning an interpretive nature trail in the forested section in Yorktown Park in North Kingstown. Approximately 0.4 miles of unofficial trails has already been laid out by the local residents and the wooded area of the park is on about 5.0 acres of forest and wetland.

We envision a short stone walkway entrance with some bird and bat house high up in the trees. Each house would have small signage indicated the kind of creature that would use that kind of nesting house. Along the path there would be one or two benches and places for individuals to sit and possibly write a message for an art style placement for the messages and poems that will be encouraged. This would be coordinated with Audubon and the Boy and Girl Scout troops locally. In addition the NK Arts Council is open to planning an Art Venture once the paths are cleaned and layed out.

Wilson Park Sculpture Site

North Kingstown, RI 02852

In a small area nestled towards the back of Wilson Park, adjacent to the winding trail that leads to the Mill Cove Footbridge & Wickford Proper, we are planning a modest earth-and-stone art walkway. It will also include a stone bench,  some plantings of native species coordinated with a local native plant group, and the possible installation of an organic metal sculpture, if we can secure funding. Tucked along the tree line at the edge of the park, this landmark will invite visitors to pause, reconnect with nature, and awaken a sense of wonder and awe as they begin their journey onto the trail. This project is slated for Fall 2026.

This is also the site in which the Eco-Land Art Project resides during the Wickford Art Festival. This is a wonderful opportunity to share our mission with festival goers on a created landmark.
