The Spiral Anniversary Celebration 2025

Sunday, May 4th, 2025

The peaceful tones of harp and flute by Mary King & Kristi Otterbach set the mood for this peaceful, yet celebratory event, and Walter Berry gave an introduction along with a reading of Earth Remembers.

I am lying on a rock in the sun, with my eyes closed. In my reverie, I move slowly, next to the ground, like a tracker of old.
I follow the North-South scratches on the bedrock, made by the glaciers.
I follow the tiny tracks of the mouse, and the straight line track of the coyote chasing it.
I follow the sharp tracks of the deer, and the moccasin prints of the hunter in pursuit.
I follow the deep track of the ox, the furrow of the plow, and the shoe prints of the farmer behind.
I followed the wandering tracks of the dog, the ruts of the stroller and the sneaker prints of the smiling parents.
I turn and see the impressions of knee and foot I have behind me. And think:
Walk softly, with intention, and respect for those who have come before you. Before we all leave a trace on the earth for the ones who look to see it.

Readings of original long and short form poetry were shared by Walter Berry, Elizabeth Spring, Sara Seelenbrandt, Rebecca Laverriere, Deb Skivington, Kristi Otterbach, Mary King, & Debbie Barchi.

Dick Randlet shared a musical interlude.

Nature art mandalas by Wendy Rappaport were displayed, and Rebecca Laverrerie offered creative making to wear and take home. The event concluded with a dance of universal peace by Ned Arvidson through communal song & movement around the spiral, a pattern of Nature.
